On Thursday, March 18, actions in solidarity with political prisoners were carried out throughout Germany by various groups and organizations. Turkish revolutionaries in Germany particularly highlighted the campaign in defense of revolutionary activist Banu on this occasion. Partly, actions were also carried out in memory and defense of the 150th anniversary of the Paris Commune.
In 1923, the International Red Aid declared 18 of March as the International Day for the Political Prisoners. This day was chosen because it was on this day in 1871 that the bloody and determined struggles of the Paris Commune began.
