CYPRUS - Police violence against demonstration against assembly bans

Hundreds took to the streets on Saturday Feb. 13 to protest restrictions due to alleged "Corona measures," assembly bans and corruption. Police used water cannons and tear gas against the demonstrators.

The demonstration moved through downtown Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus. Newspapers reported that police had beaten demonstrators with batons. According to police, 10 people were arrested and fines were imposed for violating the assembly regulations, and several people were injured.

As in numerous other countries, the masses of people are no longer regretful that under the pretext of the pandemic their basic democratic rights are restricted and abandoned!
