On Saturday, October 10, a lively demonstration against the closure of the plant of MAN took place in the city of Steyr in Upper Austria. This is a small town with a long history of metalworking industry and a great history of workers' struggles. The impending closure of the plant would cost 2,300 jobs at MAN alone. However, as it has been reported, thousands more jobs are at stake.
Workers from different branches joined together and organized a first demonstration, as a contribution and support for the workers at MAN, as well as the population concerned. What was special about it was, that it was a demonstration of self-organized and independent workers!
