On 14th of March tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Khartoum, Omdurman, Khartoum North, Atbara, Alfashir, Algienena, Alobeied, Kasala, Sinar, Madeni and Berber, marking the 85th day of the uprising. They occupied the streets of the major cities to underline their demands against the government. At the same time, these mass actions were a resounding rejection of Albashir’s new government and signalled the determination of the masses in their struggle.
Since the start of the protests over 500.000 of protestors were arrested and 41 people were killed during the protests. In this protests workers from different sectors, university and high school students, unions and other parts of the peoples united together in the revolt against the economical and social situation and the government. Especially many young people, men and women, took to the streets, some for the first time in their lives, in large cities but also in smaller villages. Besides high school and university students, also many children attended the protests. One of them, Shaoqi Assadig, 12 years old, was shot dead in Al-Gezira province. He also became a symbol of the struggle.
