SUDAN – Over 800 people arrested in the massprotests

Since the beginning of the mass protests against the government in Sudan on the 19th of December, 816 demonstrators have been arrested. Members of the protest movement state that more than 1.100 people were detained. In prison the arrested protesters get tortured, especially the women get humiliated. Doctors, professors, lawyers, journalists and architects are kept in detention centers. Seventeen professors from Khartoum University were arrested and tortured for seven hours before being released. Even Amnesty International declared that 37 protesters have been killed.

The mass protests started because of the rising of the price of bread, then it developed to be an anti-government protest, especially against the President Omar al-Bahir. The protests spread all over the country. The protesters demand the release of all political prisoners and started a campaign!
