Nine years ago on the 6th of December, the 15 year old Alexis Grigoropoulos was shot by police on the streets of Athens. In 2008 Grigoropoulos' death sparked extensive riots that led to big youth revolts across Greece. Athens was the most affected, were in many parts the state had to struggle very hard to get control again. The murder of Alexis was exemplary for the police repression against big parts of the youth and oppressed people in Greece – that was one important reason for the following huge youth revolts. Last week on the ninth anniversary of his death again a demonstration took place. The police tried to attack it, but especially the youth fought back and had some struggles against the police. Police tried to frighten the masses but they aren‘t even scared, they showed again that they will never stop struggling against police repression.
The rebellion is justified!
