UZBEKISTAN - Women's blockade for heating material

In Pakhtakor District, Jizzakh Province, dozens of women blocked the highway to draw attention to the lack of fuel. Due to the gas shortage in the country, the government decided years ago to cut exports in order to ensure the availability of heating material at home. The local district administrators have officially confirmed again and again that the regions are supplied with electricity and heating material, with many residents reporting that the gas is often only enough for cooking.

As a result, the women in Jizzakh Province blocked the highway and protested over the gas shortage and demanded more material for their areas. They could not be persuaded and released from the blockade with mere promises, but demanded immediate delivery of coal to their villages. With determination and tenacity, they held on to their demands, which ultimately led to a ton of coal being delivered to their villages.

Rebellion is justified!
