INDIA - Migrant workers struggling to get home!

On Sunday, 17th of May, migrant workers hurled stones at the police and damaged vehicles on a national highway near Rajkot in Gujarat, demanding immediate travel arrangements. Because they are being held by repressive measures under the pretext of the pandemic.

Like official Indian media reports, some police men and a local journalist were injured in the incident and 25 migrants were arrested, after identifying them through video footage. The police berated the justified protest as "agitated migrants" who "resort to vandalism". The migrant workers, however, protested justifiably and resorted to militant means by damaging vehicles on a national road. They demanded from the local authorities a regulation for the return to their home countries!

Like Indian media reported, before, on 15th of May in Andhra Pradesh the police charged migrant workers after they tried to leave their shelter and started to move towards their native States.

Those migrant workers, who were walking back to their home towns, have been forced to go to so called "relief" centers! More than 1,000 migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and parts of Andhra Pradesh were shifted to that prison-like centers!
