On January 1st, several thousand people demonstrated against US imperialism and tried to storm the US Embassy building. That was triggered by US air attacks on Hezbollah positions over the weekend, in which at least 25 fighters were killed.
Demonstrations against US imperialism took place in several Iraqi cities already on Monday. On Tuesday thousands of demonstrators gathered in the center of Baghdad. Angered crowds marched unimpeded through the checkpoints of the high-security Green Zone to the embassy gates. They were shouting: “Death to America" and spraying pro-Iran graffiti on the walls.
Their justified demand was an end to American intervention in the country!
