INDIA – On the latest protests in Kashmir

For the last three weeks, thousands have protested in the part of Kashmir that is under the cruel and unjust rule of Indian expansionism. There is only limited information available about the protests, since the rotten bureaucratic Indian state has blocked access to the internet and most mobile networks on August 5th, a few days before (!) the Modi-led Hindu-fascist government removed Article 370 of the Indian constitution.

The police are using tear gas and pellets to fight the protesters, that mostly rose up around the neighborhood of Soura, in the city of Sringar. The last protests happened on Friday. At least two protesters were injured by the police. This number is probably a lot higher, due to the fact that the old Indian state is trying to suppress every information they can about the protests, for example when they said that only 20 protesters took to the streets on the 9th of August, while a BBC journalist presented evidence of thousands of protesters.

While the contradictions between the BBC and the bureaucratic Indian state, that is only controlled by the imperialists - mostly US imperialism but according to the Communist Party of India (Maoist) there is also influence of the Russian and Chinese financial capital - are not clear, it only makes sense for the protests to be large in size. The Kashmiri people are leading a militant struggle against the cruel oppression they are experiencing.

The article in question has mostly granted so-called autonomy over the internal administration of the state. The cruel oppression that the Hindu-fascist Indian state is using against the masses of the Muslim-majority state of Jammu and Kashmir (the Indian part of the larger Kashmir region) can be seen for example by the gang rape and murder of an eight-year old by police forces of the old Indian state earlier this year.

The Indian bureaucratic classes are trying to suppress the great struggle of the Kashmiri people for freedom from imperialism with such measures. But the oppression of Kashmiri nationals is also part of the conflict between India and Pakistan, since the region of Kashmir is split between the two countries. According to the CPI(Maoist), Pakistan is mostly controlled by the Chinese finance capital. It is an example of how conflicts between the imperialist camps are fought on the back of the oppressed peoples.

The CPI(Maoist) that is leading the people’s war in India has already issued a “Statement on the Kashmiri issue”, but so far it is only available in Telgu, not in English.

Freedom for the people of Kashmir!

Death to imperialism!

Long live international solidarity!
