NEPAL - Actions against the elections

2017 is the first year since 1999 in Nepal for elections for the bourgeois parliament to take place. After years of People’s War and the blatant treason against the Nepalese people by Prachanda, the bourgeois media of Nepal tries to talk them into believing the story of a calm, peaceful election. For their campaigns the reaction also used mules and drones to carry their propaganda into remote areas to reach each and every one of the 28 million living in Nepal. The first phase of this election was at the 26th of November, the second will be at the 7th of December.

The Nepalese people prove them wrong though. The armed forces of Nepal try to underact it, but still have to admit, that “several maoist groups” execute attacks against the electoral farce. They report at least 30 IED (improvised explosive devices) to be defused since the 1st of December.

They also claim to have detained 285 which would have carried guns and explosives with intent to disrupt the election in various parts of the country and claim to have arrested 581 people for alleged involvement in anti-election activities.

On 3rd of December, an IED was hurled at Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education Gopalman Shrestha in Bhirkot.

Earlier, a bomb went off targeting the mass meeting addressed by Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Centre (CPN-Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at Pakadi of Mayadevi Rural Municipality in Kapilvastu District on December 2nd, Police said that no human casualty has been reported in the incident.

Meanwhile, an IED was exploded targeting the election candidates of Left Alliance at Angdim in Chathar of Tehrathum District on December 2nd. The explosion caused damages to the vehicle in which party members were travelling.

Separately, one grenade planted in Bharatpur of Chitwan District went off on December 3rd. However, no casualties were reported in the explosion except that the window panes at the Ward Office were shattered.

Earlier, an IED exploded targeting a vehicle carrying CPN-UML senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal at Tinkutte in Ilam District along the Fikkal-Pashupatinagar road section on December 1st.

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off near United Nations (UN) Park in Kupondole of Lalitpur District on December 1st.

A temporary policeman injured in the bomb explosion of the 28th of November in Dang District succumbed to his injuries in course of treatment on November 29th. He was injured when a bomb targeted Sher Bahadur Deuba's election rally. Eight others were injured in the explosion. Three of the injured were in critical condition.

One policeman was injured in a bomb explosion targeting a team of security personnel carrying ballot boxes at Kushe in Jajarkot District on November 27th, reports The Himalayan Times. The injured is identified as Shanta Bahadur Basnet, who was carrying the ballot box.

Meanwhile, four persons including Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary candidate Narayan Bahadur Karki were critically injured when a vehicle was ambushed in Udaypur District on November 29th.

One Person was injured in a bomb explosion near the election rally organized in Ward No. 9 of Dhankuta District on November 24th.

Earlier, there were two attacks in two different places of Rasuwa District on November 23rd. At Chiuribot of Kalika, cadres of Naya Shakti stopped a vehicle of Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) and attacked those inside. Immediately after being informed, the Police reached the spot. The Police initially tried to console all. However, when Naya Shakti cadres attacked the Police, the latter responded with 13 air shots.

A socket bomb was recovered in Dhading District’s Gajuri, along the Prithvi Highway on November 21st. Locals informed the police after spotting a suspicious object on the road. A Nepal Army bomb disposal team from Devidatta Battalion later confirmed and defused the bomb.

A bomb was exploded on the 20th of November at the residence of Champadevi Khadka, Minister of Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation in Laligurans Chowk of Baglung District. Police said the explosion was detonated to scare the candidate as the elections get near.

To put the amount of actions into perspective, we add a map showing the mentioned successfully placed IED. There is no information on the allegedly defused ones and probable other actions. The map shows that these actions took place all over Nepal.

These actions give a good impression of how the struggle of the Nepalese people is not contained by the revisionist “Prachanda Path”. On the contrary, this level of militant actions show, that there still are not a few comrades keeping up the path of armed struggle.
