BOLIVIA - Fascist coup d'etat

Following 19 days of protests due to disputed election results, the Bolivian police and military forces backed a coup against the elected president Evo Morales. The coup while deposing the bureaucratic capitalist puppet Evo Morales and replacing it with the comprador puppet Jeanine Áñez made way for reactionary and open fascist forces to wage terror against the people, but especially indigenous peoples.

The self-proclaimed president Áñez walked into the presidential palace with a huge bible in hand shouting "the bible has come back to the palace!". The Whipala flag, which represents the multicultural heritage of the Bolivian country was torn apart and burned in many places of the country. Clerical-fascists, which had been active ever since Evo Morales was first elected, showed themselves and started harassing and attacking indigenous people.

Luis Fernando Camacho, who was not really known, has become prominent quite fast during the coup. Around mainstream media he is now presented as the leader of the "movement". An extensive report shows his links to fascist paramilitary groups from which he first started. The group he was in, the Unión Juvenil Cruceñista, are known to attack indigenous people and leftists and of preaching a clerical-fascist ideology, which sees indigenous peoples as inferior beings and wishes to establish Christianity as the sole religion in Bolivia.

Many people have gone out to the streets to demonstrate. There have been 715 wounded and 23 killed. For many it's obvious that this coup has been orchestrated by US-imperialism, which is seeking to expand its influence in what was long considered to be its backyard. This expansion takes place in the light of Chinese and Russian imperialist influence, which has expanded more and more in the region.

Trump has openly expressed his support for the coup as "one step closer to a completely democratic, prosperous, and free Western Hemisphere " and saying this should be a "strong signal to the illegitimate regimes in Venezuela and Nicaragua that democracy and the will of the people will always prevail." This is a clear message to the governments of Venezuela and Nicaragua, that are also being targeted by US-backed destabilization. It is an escalation in the conflicts going on in Latin America, which recently also includes Chile and Ecuador.

The coup and the following repression in Bolivia is an open attack against the oppressed and exploited masses of Bolivia and Latin America. It is a bold attempt to retake what US-imperialism has already lost. It's boldness and aggressively showing the dire situation the USA finds itself in, a reflection of their own crisis. It also shows once again, that the so-called socialism of the 21st century, cannot take a stand against US-imperialism, even less guide the country to its liberation. The incompetence of these governments to lead the masses in the struggle against imperialism has shown what years of selling out their country, of betraying and of blinding the masses leads to.

The masses, who have taken to the street are rightfully fighting against foreign intervention and the most reactionary parts of their society. It is them that need to fight for real national liberation through a New Democratic Revolution. Only through this they are going to achieve independence from imperialists and not become dependent of one imperialist country or the other.

In this struggle they have to rely on the most advanced forces of their country the Marxist-Leninist-Maoists. Through their leadership, the rightful struggle of the people will stop the selling of their country to imperialists and put an end to their exploitation and oppression!
