Ten years ago the people of Lefkimmi (south of Corfu) started to struggle against building landfill in there place. There was high repression against the that struggle, one women died within the protests. But the protest had success and stopped the plans of the government, the local leaders and the hoteliers!
On 16th of July the struggle again rise up as the landfill in Lefkimmi was put in operation. One policeman gets hurt and two people have been arrested. As during the protest ten years ago, it is expected that the people of Lefkimmi will not be intimidated!
